Greetings from the Beehive State
I am in Salt Lake City, and taking lots of pictures: expect a full report of our wildly uncomfortable session with missionaries at Temple Square; the tour of Brigham Young’s house; the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum; the baked-goods scene; and El.’s ludicrously enormous house. If I have my way, tonight will involve line-dancing, so stand by.
Oh, and remind me to tell you about the...

A Good Thing
I try, consciously, to count my blessings. Just as after illness one values the feeling of good health, depression makes one very aware of its absence. I will sometimes tell myself “I am happy!” to imprint the feeling, and the memory, on my mind, and simply to revel in the normalcy of it all.
But like everyone, I forget, and I grumble, and I feel sorry for myself, and I get...

On the Run
I don’t “exercise,” as such. That’s not to say I’m inactive — I probably walk a few miles a day and considerably more on weekend — but I don’t tend to do things that require a change of costume (dancing is, I guess, an exception.) But I am often seized with an overpowering desire to sprint, and I will run, ecstatically, for as long as I can. The...

When I was in pre-K and we’d act out fairy tales, I always wanted to be the fairy godmother rather than the heroine. When I was in kindergarten and we’d play James Bond, I wanted to be Miss Moneypenny rather than a love interest. When I was a freshman in high school and we all got AOL accounts, I was Spinster4. I suspect I have issues. In fact, I know it.

Charm School
When I hang out with Amber, we become Charm School (you know, like the Cobrasnake or the Bumbys, or the Misshapes or something.) When there are other friends there we’re just, you know, two people hanging out with other people. So far, this concept is somewhat academic. But we’re open to DJ’ing. And, apparently, dancing wildly with aging Chinese men who don’t speak...

raggedbutright asked: Not a question, but my friend Laura has a goood hot cross bun recipe: can't include links here but her blog is Sifting and Sowing and the post is about 3 down. I've made them and they work out well.

Coming Attractions
At the end of the month, I’ll be taking a long-anticipated trip to visit El. in Salt Lake City. She writes, “I’ve been reserving all of the sinister Temple Sq. activities until I have a interested visitor, which I think I can safely assume you are? I hear there’s a very slickly produced film of Jos. Smith’s life, plus his former homes (The Lion House and the Beehive...
